Last night I went for a Chinese by way of celebration. I could only eat half the meal. The food was too rich and I'd dehydrated more than I'd realised. I felt sick after it. Also the mosquitoe bites itched like crazy through the night, about 11-12 of them. I couldn't sleep. I didn't do much at all this day, stayed indoors, updated the diary, sipped drinks and watched tv. I was supposed to head off on Saturday but before I went to sleep I started to get nervous. The bites went itchy again, and when I did get to sleep I had weird nightmares. I woke up at 4am with a start, really edgy and drained. I didn't feel good. I went back to sleep. No cycling today.
Later on in the morning I phoned home and got the result of the Leitrim match. Leitrim were playing Wicklow in the semifinal of the Tommy Murphy Cup. They lost in a closely fought battle. Thats it for Leitrim this year, it marks the end of Dessie Dolan's tenure as Leitrim manager. It was an exciting 4yrs, if somewhat bittersweet, with the team just falling short in some big matches. They came agonisingly close on a number of occasions to a major brakthrough on the big stage. Best of luck Dessie. I wonder what the squad will look like next January?
